‘Sister’ Stations Triumph Again!
 
Gold FM and Sea FM maintain market dominance with the number one and two positions overall in the results released today from the first commercial radio survey of 2008.
In results given today by Nielsen Media Research, figures overall show an increase in radio listening on the Gold Coast, with Gold FM continuing its lead with the number one position overall with Sea FM standing strong as number one in the under 40 demographic.
 
Gold FM surged ahead maintaining the lead with a 35.2%* share overall 10+, with Sea FM continuing in second place with 26.6%* of the market.
 
The newest partnership of Gold FM’s ‘Richard and Bridge for Breakfast’ have grown their winning lead just six months into the new show with the number one position of 35.9%** in Breakfast.
With this growth continuing through mornings and across the day with a maintained lead for ever popular ‘AJ’ in mornings.
 
Breakfast highs continue for the Gold Coast’s longest running breakfast team of the Sea FM Morning Crew with Paul, Moyra and Tim closely in second place with 29.7%**
 
A big highlight for Sea FM in the increasingly popular time slot of ‘Drive’ radio, with results showing the relatively new on-air team of Ant and Beck’s The Sea FM Benchwarmers increasing their share to number one overall with 28.3%***
 
Radio listenership remains strong with a steady figure for the Gold Coast Radio with Sea FM and Gold FM showing positive growth in Cumulative (CUME) Audience to a combined audience of 262,600****.  
 
Group General Manager Nick Scott is pleased with the results that show confidence in the market with both 90.9 Sea FM and 92.5 Gold FM maintaining the number one and two positions for the fifth year in a row. Mr Scott comments, ‘in what is now a hotly contested commercial radio market, it’s great to see the team at the Gold Coast Radio Centre maintaining their lead and always looking for room to grow and develop to ensure we’re serving our listeners and clients in the professional manner that they have both become accustomed to’
