* US swimming champion who used her aquatic talents in Hollywood movies during the ’40s and ’50s.
 
RICHARD ANDERSON born in New Jersey - 1926 (81)
* US actor. He played Oscar Goldman in The Six Million Dollar Man as well as The Bionic Woman.
 
DON BURROWS born in Sydney, NSW - 1928 (79)
* Australian jazz musician. He has never had any formal musical education. He plays the flute, clarinet and several other wind instruments.
 
RONALD BIGGS born in London, England - 1929 (78)
* He was one of 15 men who made off with £2.5 million as a result of the "Great Train Robbery" which occurred on his 34th birthday. After 35 years on the run he’s now behind bars in England.

His morning program is networked to 71 radio stations throughout Australia. He first appeared on 2UE in 1957 - the first of four terms at the station. He’s also worked at 2SM, 2GB and 2UW. His broadcasting career began at 3BO Bendigo in 1953. Last month he announced his retirement and his final program will be in November.

* American actor. He has won Academy Awards for Best Actor in Rainman and Kramer v Kramer. His other hit films include The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, All The President’s Men, Tootsie, Hook, Outbreak and Meet The Fockers.

* US actress. She played Cricket Blake in the TV series Hawaiian Eye (1959-’62). She had a pop hit in 1960 with Sixteen Reasons.

* 15 men took off with £2.5 million.  ‘Buster’ Edwards, who committed suicide in 1994, surrendered to the police in 1966 and served 11 years.  Ronald Biggs escaped from jail in 1965 and headed to Australia before settling in Brazil .  After 35 years in Brazil he finally surrendered in 2001 and is now in jail in England .
